The Sovereign Lake Nordic Development Centre is excited to host another year of a “truly Sovereign” event, Headlamp Heroes!

 

Race registration: $5 / race. Registration opens at 5pm. Race Start at 6pm. Each night.

Location: Race registration in the Jury room (lower tech building). Race Start will always be in front of the tech building.

Technique: Headlamp Heroes will always be “technique of choice”. We can never guarantee track setting.

This is a three-day course for those new to XC ski instruction. It will give you the skills and resources to teach classic and skate technique to beginner skiers using CANSI’s teaching methodology with a focus on safety and skill progression.

Why people take this course:

To become a certified XC ski instructor and to learn CANSI’s approach for teaching classic and skate technique to beginner skiers;
To develop the skills and resources to teach professionally, or to help friends and family on the trails.

Sovereign Lake is hosting a 3 day (plus 1 training day) Nordiq Cup (COC) from Dec 5 to Dec 8th.

Skiing skills:

We suggest attending a Level I Preparation Workshop that focuses on skiing skill improvement to ensure that your skiing meets the standards required for success in the Level I course. Select Schedule at the top of this page to see if a Level I Preparation Workshop is available in your area.

Review our XC Level I skiing skill video to assess if you are close to the expected skiing standards for this course.

Teaching knowledge:

You should have experience conducting ski lessons using basic teaching approaches, be able to assess fundamental technique problems, and offer general skill improvement to novice skiers.

Spring Fling May 2nd-5th **Confirmed- Snow is fantastic!

Join us for 4 days of Spring skiing at its best!
This may have been a challenging winter but we are keeping the fun and the snow around for one bonus weekend.
Rock your “Retro” ski wear, any vintage race suit, or a cool and colorful outfit from a generation older than you.

Time: 7:30 am – 1 pm(skiing outside of these hours is prohibited)
BBQ: May 5th from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm *$5 smokies and non-alcoholic beverage

Additional Event Information

-No camping in the parking lot overnight

-Equipment trailers can be parked overnight in designated area(by wax hut but not blocking First Aid side and entrance)

-There will be a designated area for waxing outside for teams( adjacent to wax hut ) *Not blocking First Aid doors or entrance from parking lot or trail)
