DESCRIPTION:  \n \nSovereign Lake Nordic Club and SilverStar Mountain Resort are teaming up to present the first-ever Sovereign2SilverStar Ski Marathon. A point to party event with two of everything: two days (classic and skate)\, two distances each day (42km and 21km)\, and two ski areas (start at Sovereign Lake and finish on Main Street of SilverStar village). \nFinishing is Winning: After the ‘competitive’ waves start\, the smaller ‘fun’ waves will be spaced out to allow everyone to enjoy their time on the trails. With the largest daily groomed network of Nordic trails in Canada\, there are no laps or repeated trail sections\, just a lot of scenery. \nThe two areas are working together to build an adventure that carries on well after the skiing is done. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 2019 Sovereign Lake Open \nSovereign Lake Nordic Club is always excited to host early-season world-class competitions at our high altitude venue. Preparations are well underway. Please review the Race Notice carefully for event details and times. \nSLNC is taking a hiatus from hosting NorAms this season in preparation for hosting Ski National Championships and US SuperTour finals from March 25th to April 2nd\, 2020.  That being said\, we don’t want to leave our racers without an early-season opening race so we have brought back the Sovereign Open for 2019 to provide two distance races back to back. We will be holding a Team Sprint race day in February as a training session for Nationals. \nShould you have any additional questions please contact our Race Secretary at race@sovereignlake.com \nTo VOLUNTEER for our upcoming Sovereign Lake Open please click VOLUNTEER NOW! \nTHIS WILL BE A HIGH-FLOURO FREE EVENT \n  \nCLASSIC TECHNIQUE CONTROL ZONES  \nFor the 2019 season\, Nordiq Canada will continue utilizing Classic Technique Control Zones. These zones require all athletes to classic stride within the designated zones\, labeled with large red signage and blue whiskers. It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the location of these zones by pre-skiing their course. \n
