Snow Fun 50 Virtual Ski

Dates: March 1 – 28, 2022
Registration: None! Submit your trailforks or Strava track to [email protected].
Cost: FREE

Details:

We are doing a virtual SnowFun50 this year and the rules are quite simple.  Just ski the SnowFun50 course on any one day from now until March 28 and you will earn a finisher medal!

There are no fees or registration required, no aid stations, no on-course maps, no free beer at the pub ☹ and you are on your own to plan, support yourself and complete the course.  As it is a point-to-point ski from Sovereign to Silverstar, you will also have to work out your own logistics for where you park and where to leave your post-ski change of clothes.See the course map below. To get instructions on how to pick up your medal, submit your Trailforks/Strava/Garmin track to [email protected].  We only have 40 special 2020 Canadian Nationals medals so first come, first earned. You should treat yourself to the pub when you finish to celebrate!  Long John’s in Silverstar Village has been our host in the past years so drop in for your finisher meal and tell them why you are there.  Next year we hope to have an in-person SnowFun50 where we will all gather at LongJohn’s after the event (and get a free beer!).  But for now, whether you pick LongJohn’s or another eatery, celebrate in the Village regardless!p.s. The Club is trying to develop more user data using TrailForks so if at all possible, please use TF to record your ski.

Sovereign 2 SilverStar Ski Marathon

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and SilverStar Mountain Resort are teaming up to present the first-ever Sovereign2SilverStar Ski Marathon. A point to party event with two of everything: two days (classic and skate), two distances each day (42km and 21km), and two ski areas (start at Sovereign Lake and finish on Main Street of SilverStar village).

Finishing is Winning: After the ‘competitive’ waves start, the smaller ‘fun’ waves will be spaced out to allow everyone to enjoy their time on the trails. With the largest daily groomed network of Nordic trails in Canada, there are no laps or repeated trail sections, just a lot of scenery.

The two areas are working together to build an adventure that carries on well after the skiing is done. When you get to the finish line you’re just getting started as the party gets underway at the great local restaurants and bars.

The Details

  • April 2nd, 2022: Classic Day: your choice of 42km or 21km.
  • April 3rd, 2022: Free/Skate Day: your choice of 42km or 21km.
  • Start in a World Cup stadium at Sovereign Lake, finish on Main Street in SilverStar village.
  • Stop at a food station, take pictures at the viewpoints, experience the trails with small wave starts to allow more room to appreciate the scenery.
  • Build your own experience: choose between competitive and fun waves, ride the gondola on a sunny afternoon, add a multisport experience 20 minutes drive to the valley below.
